About the Producers
Colombia: El Nevado del Huila is a communal lot sourced from farmers in Huila, Colombia, living in the shadow of the country's highest volcano. This coffee embodies a profound commitment to the producers. It represents more than just selecting their finest microlots; it is a promise to purchase the entirety of their harvest. Each lot undergoes a rigorous selection process, with multiple cuppings at buying stations and warehouses to ensure only clean, sweet, and high-quality coffees are blended into the final product. The result is an exceptional, approachable cup—a direct tribute to the farmers' dedication and their majestic landscape.
Rwanda: In Rwanda’s Rulindo District, coffee farming is a revered craft and economic cornerstone. The district's high-altitude volcanic slopes, abundant rainfall, and rich soils create an ideal terroir for cultivating premium Arabica beans. Here, coffee is primarily grown by smallholder farmers who meticulously tend to their family plots. The cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness before being processed at local washing stations, where they undergo careful fermentation and washing. This dedication to quality, often following sustainable practices, yields beans celebrated for their bright acidity and complex floral notes.
What makes this coffee stand out
This dynamic dark-roasted blend combines two very special coffees whose impact goes far beyond just the spectacular flavor in the final cup. The Coffee Quest, our importing partner for the Colombia Nevado Del Huila, purchases the entire lot of coffee regardless of variable quality — ensuring farmers receive a reliable income for the annual harvest. Meanwhile, The One Acre Fund provides access to resources to those farmers who contributed to the Rwanda Juru. The fund provides farming materials, seed distribution for coffee trees and shade trees, and technical assistance from agronomists, helping these farmers improve their land and grow their livelihoods.
