About the Producers
El Nevado del Huila: El Nevado del Huila is a communal lot sourced from farmers in Huila, Colombia, living in the shadow of the country's highest volcano. This coffee embodies a profound commitment to the producers. It represents more than just selecting their finest microlots; it is a promise to purchase the entirety of their harvest. Each lot undergoes a rigorous selection process, with multiple cuppings at buying stations and warehouses to ensure only clean, sweet, and high-quality coffees are blended into the final product. The result is an exceptional, approachable cup—a direct tribute to the farmers' dedication and their majestic landscape.
Sebastian Ramirez: Sebastian Ramirez is a fourth- generation coffee farmer with over 12 years of experience. Sebastian began as a traditional grower but eventually delved into fermentations and made connections within the industry. Nowadays, he is a master in carbonic maceration, coffee profiles, and varietals. We are honored to represent him and can confidently say that his coffees are anything but ordinary.
What makes this coffee stand out
The Colombia El Nevado del Huila and the Colombia Sebastian Ramirez Ají Bourbon come together to form this delicious dark-roasted blend. We worked with Coffee Quest to source the El Nevado del Huila, who purchases the entire lot, not just the coffees they deem to be the best of the lot. This provides financial security for the farmers they work with. Sebastian Ramirez grows many varietals on his farm Finca el Placer, Ají Bourbon being one of them. Ají Bourbon is known for thriving in Colombia, and is a rare and special varietal. Ají means chili pepper in spanish, and the varietal was named for the red pepper aroma the cherries produce when being harvested.
