Why This Coffee Stands Out
At their farm Jardines del Edén in Pijao, Quindío, brothers Carlos and Felipe Arcila grow 12 rare coffee varietals, including this Yellow Gesha — one of the rarest of all. Gesha originated in Ethiopia and usually ripens red, but every so often, a few trees produce yellow cherries instead. Yellow Gesha tends to be more fruit-forward and rounded in sweetness, while red Geshas are typically lighter and more citrus-floral.
The Arcila brothers first planted Yellow Gesha in 2019, after obtaining seeds from La Negrita, the award-winning farm owned by Mauricio Shattah. Grown at 1850 meters, the varietal has adapted beautifully to the region’s conditions, and every lot since their first harvest in 2022 has scored above 88.5 points.
About the Producer:
Brothers Carlos and Felipe Arcila are the founders of Cofinet, a family-run company in Quindío, Colombia dedicated to producing, exporting, and promoting exceptional Colombian coffees. Through Cofinet, they’ve supported countless producers while experimenting with innovative processing methods and cultivating rare varietals on their own farms.
Price Transparency:
Price transparency matters because many coffee farmers earn less than their production costs.
